Hi Gang!
Sounds like your haviing fun. What kind of maple trees do you have. I have ash maple here. I was wondering where you get taps and does it kill or hurt the trees? Looking forward to the pics. please include how you convert sap to syrup? I thought it came our syrup LOL? I thought this was done just in the fall?? dunno anything about harvesting sap but it sounds like alot of fun to do. I bet my grand kids would have a ton of fun doing this.

I plan on getting a lot of info, pics and Videos up just need the time!

You tap trees in the Spring and the flow is best when night is below freezing and daytime above.

Once the night temps stay above freezing it's over.

You basically boil the sap down til you have syrup using a Turkey Fryer Burner on up to an "Evaporator" built for Making Maple Syrup.

Average Sugar Content of a Sugar Maple Tree takes 40 gallons of sap to make a gallon of Syrup.

To give you an idea of how I did this year I had 41 taps and made 13 gallons of Syrup.
